SPRINGDALE, AR: Tyson Foods has brought on food industry veteran Felicia Collins as VP of corporate communications, the company said Friday.
Based at its headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas, Collins will lead its PR, social media, and internal communications teams. She will report to Sara Lilygren, EVP of corporate affairs.
Collins’ career in communications has spanned nearly 25 years, including almost four years at Ventura Foods, an ingredient producer based in California, where she served CCO and VP of corporate communications.
Previously, she spent five years at Edelman as group lead for food and nutrition in Washington, D.C., and SVP of food and nutrition in the agency’s Chicago office, leading its Wal-Mart food business. This included the Making Healthy Foods Affordable platform created with first lady Michelle Obama.
Gary Mickelson, senior director of PR at Tyson, said the company is working with FleishmanHillard on "a variety of projects."
In February, Tyson Foods projected record profits for this year, propelled by growing consumer spending, more meat supplies, and dropping animal food prices. It posted a profit of $461 million for the three months ending January 2 of this year, with revenue down 15% to $9.2 billion.
The company operates in 130 countries, with 113,000 employees in 400 facilities.
