Pitch appointed by Thomas Pink

Sports agency Pitch has been appointed by Thomas Pink to activate its partnership as official formal wear outfitter to the British & Irish Lions rugby team on its 2017 tour to New Zealand. The consumer campaign is expected to run from September 2016 to May 2017, and will include a range of ambassador, digital and experiential activations. Central to the campaign will be Thomas Pink's own "tongue-in-cheek" rugby club, the agency said. Pitch did similar work for Thomas Pink on the Lions' last tour, in 2013.

Fleishman's Jo'burg chief

FleishmanHillard has appointed Sharon Piehl as general manager of the global network's Johannesburg operation, effective 1 May. Piehl has more than 18 years of experience in the public relations and comms industry. She joined FleishmanHillard in 2011 to lead the same office’s brand marketing team, which has quadrupled in size under her leadership, the firm said.

Bubble and Squeak promotes IBC

Bubble and Squeak has won a global PR contract for IBC, the annual event for television and film professionals held in Amsterdam. The comms agency will carry out press relations and run an on-site press office during the event, this September.

PLMR wins vet school work

The University of London's Royal Veterinary College has taken on the public affairs and PR firm PLMR to run its press office and lead campaigns focused on student recruitment. The team will be led by senior consultant Steven Gauge.

VisitScotland appoints Jago

VisitScotland, the national tourism organisation for Scotland, has appointed Jago Communications as its PR agency for both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Belfast-based Jago was founded in 2012.

Wins for Rain

Rain Communications has been appointed to provide corporate PR for pet food firm Butcher's Pet Care. The campaign will emphasise the story of the family-run firm, which was founded in 1987.

The agency has also been appointed by hip and knee specialist Gorav Datta, to increase patient enquiries and raise the industry profile of the London and Hampshire practising physician.

Sopexa briefed by winemaker

Turkish wine producer Kavaklidere Wines has appointed Sopexa UK to work with it on raising the profile of its premium range of wines in the UK. The campaign will focus on introducing the wines to a range of key trade influencers.
