Corey Lewandowski, the campaign manager for Donald Trump’s presidential run, was charged with misdemeanor battery on Tuesday for an incident that took place earlier this month after a Trump victory rally.
Lewandowski has been accused of grabbing former Breitbart News Network reporter Michelle Fields after Trump’s victory event after he won the Florida Republican primary on March 8. He has promised to appear in court in May.
A range of reactions appeared on Twitter shortly after the charges were announced, including an unpopular opinion by a certain former CNN host.
Re: Trump campaign manager, I've been in scrums on the journo and PR side. There are ways to protect a client without committing assault— Justin Graeber (@justingraeber) March 29, 2016
In a normal campaign, shame would be enough to deal with Lewandowski. Here, we needed criminal charges. https://t.co/5JnzAQQUpl— Josh Barro (@jbarro) March 29, 2016
There goes Corey Lewandowski's chance to work in White House - I doubt he'll clear a BG check w/a battery charge: https://t.co/t9HKyanVlI— Adam Conner-Simons (@aconnersimons) March 29, 2016
Just a few weeks ago Trump was threatening the media in every speech, and now his campaign manager is charged with battery. Take note, media— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) March 29, 2016
I think the Trump campaign manager being charged with assault on a female reporter will further be a PR problem for Trump with women.— Brad (@Kauffman126) March 29, 2016
