London-based Clarity PR hires Ruth Sarfaty as U.S. managing director

Sarfaty was MD of Sparkpr in New York for three years and has also worked at MWW, Yahoo, DKC, and AOL.

NEW YORK: Clarity PR has brought on Ruth Sarfaty as U.S. MD, based in its New York office.

Sarfaty is managing operations in Clarity PR’s nine-person U.S. office alongside CEO Sami McCabe and is responsible for seeking and acquiring U.S. business. She started in the role last month.

Clarity, which focuses on digital lifestyle and technology companies, has added live stream video chat app YouNow and online video creation platform Wochit to its client roster since she took the role, Sarfaty said.

"It’s all about growing," she explained. "Growing New York and growing the company as a whole."

Clarity is headquartered in London with offices in New York and Berlin, and it plans to open an outpost in San Francisco later this year. It also recently hired account director Sherry Smith and account manager Lisa Kurtz in New York.

"Having a person like me in New York is new for them. I think it improves our ability to secure and pitch new business because [McCabe] can’t clone himself to be in three places at once," Sarfaty said.

In the U.K, the firm has worked with clients including UBM Live, German digital bank Fidor, and Premier Inn.

Previously, Sarfaty was president of consultancy Sarfatypr, and MD of Sparkpr in New York from April 2012 to May 2015, according to her LinkedIn account. She has also served as EVP and head of media strategies at MWW, VP of corporate communications at Yahoo and AOL, and partner and EVP at DKC.

"We are committed to building a robust U.S. presence and look forward to [Sarfaty] helping us do that," said McCabe.
