Jordan Rittenberry leads Edelman SA

Edelman has appointed Jordan Rittenberry as managing director of Edelman South Africa. Rittenberry, who has been with the firm for a decade, will be based in Johannesburg, which serves as the hub for Edelman’s work in Africa. He succeeds Tod Donhauser, who moved to the role of CEO of Edelman United Arab Emirates earlier this week.

Golin and Virgo Health shuffle leadership

Ondine Whittington has been promoted to the newly created role of managing director at Virgo Health. She will work under Sarah Matthew, formerly joint chief executive of Virgo Health, who has been promoted to the role of president of the Golin Global Healthcare practice, which encompasses both the Virgo and Golin brands.

Whittington, who joined Virgo in 2006, will also work with newly promoted chief creative officer Rebecca Rhodes to expand the practice's global footprint, following the formation of GolinMagic in China last year.

Launch PR to promote Vision Express range

Launch PR has been appointed by opticians Vision Express UK to help raise awareness of its new own-brand glasses range. The agency will create media experiences to launch the range and showcase what it calls the "eye health expert, stress-free customer experience offered by Vision Express stores". The team is led by director Niki Wheeler.

Scottish Widows' new comms head

Life and pensions firm Scottish Widows, part of Lloyds Banking Group, has taken on Claire Burston as head of comms, based in Edinburgh and reporting to director of comms John Penman. She was previously acting head of PR at Standard Life, and the former journalist's prior roles include time at Penrose Financial, now part of MHP.

Journo Kieren Puffett joins JJ Marketing

Former motoring editor Kieren Puffett – a deputy editor on CAR magazine and editor of car review website Parkers for 10 years – has joined integrated b2b agency JJ Marketing as PR director.

Kwittken London bolsters team

Former head of comms Europe at Orange, David Taylor, has joined Kwittken London, the UK office of global PR agency Kwittken, as director of content. He will lead Kwittken London’s new content arm, Agenda. The agency has also taken on Gary Wilson as an associate director, joining from agency TinDrum. Both joined at the start of January. The firm took on new European chief Sam Bowen in October 2014.

TruTravels appoints Hume Whitehead

TruTravels, a specialist operator offering group experiences for backpackers and fun-loving young travellers, has appointed travel PR agency Hume Whitehead to handle consumer and trade PR in the UK and Ireland with immediate effect.
