Content firm Scripps appoints comms head

Scripps Network, a New York-listed media owner, broadcaster and developer of TV and online content, has appointed Maya Bhose as vice-president of marketing and comms for the UK and EMEA. Based in London, she previously worked as marketing director UK and EMEA for NBC Universal Global Networks, and for UKTV and video on demand start-up SeeSaw. She was most recently at agency Mission Marketing.

Aisle 8 to promote sex toy brand Perlesque

Fashion and lifestyle agency Aisle 8 has been appointed to manage the launch and ongoing comms for new luxury sex toy brand Perlesque. The consultancy won the brief following a non-competitive pitch and will help launch the collection in March, targeting lifestyle and fashion media and through an influencer programme and brand partnerships.

Wild Card wins Chapel Down

Wild Card has been appointed to handle the UK public relations for English winemaker Chapel Down, following a competitive pitch. Activity to build brand awareness of Chapel Down's range of sparkling and still wines in consumer, trade and social media began this week.

Dorel UK appoints Red Consultancy

Dorel, a manufacturer of a range of babycare and nursery products including car seats and pushchairs, has appointed Red Consultancy as its comms agency in the UK, following a five-way pitch. The brief will cover creative content creation, consumer and trade press relations as well as blogger and influencer outreach.

Polaris wins Indian clients

Merseyside PR firm Polaris Media has been briefed by the Company of Master Mariners India and the Indian Maritime Association of Shipowners, Shipmanagers and Agents, both based in Mumbai. Polaris also recently won work from two Indian ship management firms, and said India was a strong market given its plans to invest in maritime, and the agency's track record working in India's near neighbour and trade ally Oman.

KC Communications lands security manufacturer

Huddersfield's KC Communications, founded in August 2014, has been appointed by security firm Heald to expand its global PR and marketing strategy. Heald produces vehicle mitigation systems – including bollards, road-blockers and barriers – that aim to prevent criminals from attacking buildings such as airports or shopping centres.

Laura Starr moves to Weber Shandwick health team

Laura Starr has joined Weber Shandwick as associate director in the health team of Weber Shandwick in London. She had left GCI Health in October, having been its head of creative and an associate director since January 2014.
