Ryanair hires Uber's Cristian Samoilovich as first head of public affairs

Ryanair has appointed former senior Uber policy executive and aviation industry veteran Cristian Samoilovich as its first head of public affairs.

The airline said he would lead Ryanair’s public affairs engagements with EU institutions and European governments.

Samoilovich’s most recent role was senior manager public policy, Europe, at Uber.

He has a background in aviation, with previous roles at Airbus and Boeing. Samoilovich also chaired aviation trade body ADS.

Ryanair chief legal and regulatory officer Juliusz Komorek said: "His extensive experience and knowledge will be a key asset to Ryanair, as we continue to work with the EU to increase the competitiveness of the European air transport industry, to the benefit of consumers."

Samoilovich said: "I look forward to working closely with the EU and European governments to deliver even more choice and low fares to consumers."
