The move, which took effect from yesterday, sees all existing employees – including director Lotte Jones – and clients of Surname & Surname move across to Blue Rubicon, with the Surname & Surname brand ceasing to exist.

Jones launched Surname & Surname with Kev O'Sullivan in 2012 as a Blue Rubicon attempt to occupy new ground. Both founders had previously been associate directors at Blue Rubicon. O'Sullivan left Surname & Surname last year.

In her newly created role of creative director, Jones will continue to work with former Surname clients including St Pancras International, Homebase and Dogs Trust, as well as offer consultancy to all of Blue Rubicon's clients such as Facebook, McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Mondelez and O2.

Blue Rubicon founder and senior partner Fraser Hardie said: "Our clients increasingly want the best thinkers on corporate reputation, financial and public affairs under one roof. They want to manage reputation to unlock growth opportunities.

"We believe that requires insight and strategic clarity combined with intelligent creative execution from teams operating without separations as one firm on one P&L. This will ensure that our creative work continues to resonate in boardrooms as leaders look to build their businesses."

Last summer, Blue Rubicon was bought by Teneo Holdings in a deal with UK PR agency StockWell, creating one of the largest comms practices in Europe. It has also since acquired boutique London agency Pendomer.
