Skipton Building Society hires Hill+Knowlton as first retained corporate comms agency

Skipton Building Society, the UK's fourth largest building society, has hired Hill+Knowlton Strategies as its first retained corporate comms agency.

It follows a competitive pitch, with six agencies involved in the first chemistry stage and three at the final stage. Skipton has not had a retained corporate comms agency before, although it has worked with a number of PR firms in the past.

Established in 1853, Skipton has more than 820,000 members and oversees assets worth £17bn. It operates 95 branches.

Henry Groundes-Peace of H+K’s Financial + Professional Services practice said: "Our team will help Skipton continue to stand out in a crowded market, cementing its new corporate brand and customer proposition building on Skipton’s reputation as a leading agenda-setting mutual."

Stacey Stothard, senior corporate comms manager at Skipton Building Society, said: "H+K’s strategic approach to our brief made it the right partner for Skipton’s next chapter."
