Visit California puts French, German marketing up for bid

Both contracts are worth at least $800,000 through June 2017.

SACRAMENTO, CA: Visit California, the organization charged with boosting tourism to the Golden State, is looking for marketing help in France and Germany.

The group recently released solicitations for marketing services in the two countries. The nonprofit is searching for an "in-market specialist for marketing and sales representation," according to search documents.

A prospective budget for an agency partner working in France is valued at $800,000 and would run from July 1 through June 30, 2017, with five annual renewal options, according to the RFP.

The contract for representation in Germany is anticipated to be $850,000 for the same period of time.

Each would also include "a paid social media and SEM investment of approximately $300,000." Visit California expects to award the contracts the first week of April.

The scope of work for both contracts includes communications and PR, travel trade, owned channel management, and account administration, per the documents, which stated that travel by French and German tourists generated $786 million and $720 million, respectively, last year.

In November, Visit California awarded ICUC its global social media management contract worth $300,000 following the release of a bid over the summer for representation in Canada worth $900,000. Domestically, incumbent Development Counsellors International was named the organization’s domestic PR partner in June.
