Lidl is approaching agencies as it looks to appoint its first retained PR agency in the UK.

The pitch process is being handled by agency-client intermediary, AAR.

The retailer is looking for an agency to cover consumer, corporate, CSR and social.

Lidl currently works with social agency Cubaka and is reviewing the contract. Cubaka recently launched Lidl's virtual 'School of Christmas' as part of the supermarket's Christmas campaign.

Lidl said it would consider working with two agencies with one of those solely working on social.

Last year Lidl appointed Smarts Communicate as its Northern Irish agency, to support its expansion plans in the country.

Alex Young, business director at AAR, will work alongside Lidl's in-house team including PR manager Georgina O'Donnell, Laura Hamlin and Maya Orr.
