Winners revealed in PRCA National Awards

Brands2Life, Unity, The Academy and Clearbox Communications were named among the UK's top PR agencies at last night's PRCA National Awards, where in-house comms teams at William Hill and the Department of Health were recognised as the best in their fields.

The event at the Hilton in London's Park Lane saw Brands2Life named Large Consultancy of the Year, Unity win the award for Medium Consultancy of the Year and The Academy named Small Consultancy of the Year. Clearbox Communications won New Consultancy of the Year award.

William Hill scooped the In-House Team of the Year Award for the private sector, with the Department of Health gaining the same for the public sector.

David Gallagher, CEO of Ketchum Europe, was handed The Mark Mellor Award for outstanding contribution to the PR industry, named after the late MD of PR agency Firefly Communications. Gallagher said: "I’m very humbled to be recognised in this way. Mark Mellor was an outstanding human being who is remembered with great fondness."

Helen Lacey of Barclaycard won the In-House Professional of the Year Award while Cirkle’s Ruth Allchurch was Consultancy Head of the Year.

Mischief PR won the consultancy award for Campaign of the Year for its Farage Swings for Europe campaign. The in-house award went to Historic Royal Palaces for its The Tower of London Remembers campaign.

Francis Ingham, PRCA director general, said: "The standard of entries this year has been impeccable, with some extremely innovative and creative campaigns having been put forward. PR is thriving and the annual National Awards play testament to the fact that it goes from strength to strength."
