Expedia picks Third City for consumer brief

Expedia has appointed Third City as its retained consumer agency in the UK following a multi-stage pitch process.

The agency will work with the online travel company to differentiate it from its competitors and to bring out the "pioneering spirit" of the brand.

The pitch process was supported by Ingenuity.

PRWeek reported in August that Expedia was looking for an agency to deliver a consumer-focused brief and that three agencies were left in the running.

Third City replaces incumbent FleishmanHillard, which was hired by Expedia in 2012 to handle PR across the UK, Germany, Italy and France.

FleishmanHillard said in August that it continues to work with Expedia in Italy, Ireland and France.

Third City co-founder Graz Belli said: "Expedia completely revolutionised the travel industry when it was launched and still retains that passion for innovation today, which makes it such an exciting win for us. It’s also fantastic to add another global tech innovator to our client list."

Expedia said it chose Third City for its "strategic thinking and willingness to embrace new ideas".
