SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, CA: Tradeshow company Emerald Expositions has brought on Coyne PR as its first AOR focused on the 2016 NY Now convention.

Emerald selected the firm, which began working on the account earlier this month, based on referrals and research, said Jill Campbell, VP of marketing at the company.

She added that once she knew Coyne fit all the requirements for the business, it came down to chemistry and feeling like the firm would be a "natural extension of the existing team."

Prior to Coyne, communications for NY Now, the Market for Home, Lifestyle + Gift, was handled by a consultant. The company handles social media in-house. Budget information was not disclosed.

"We are looking to establish a relationship that will lead to broader awareness of NY Now among trade and consumer press," explained Campbell. "Even though this is a b-to-b event, it’s about home, lifestyle, gifts, and handmade; it lends itself so beautifully to consumers."

In addition to expanding media coverage in the tri-state area and nationally, Coyne will "help to keep NY Now fresh and exciting," she added.

Coyne has a team of as many as eight staffers working on the account, some of whom will be on the ground during the show, which will take place January 30 to February 3, 2016.

Campbell said Coyne and Emerald are planning activities for the winter event, such as offering exhibitors and attendees discounted Broadway tickets.

The contract will run through the end of February, but Campbell said the company hopes the event will go so well that it will extend the partnership through its summer show.
