Brands including Pepsi, Toyota, Uber, Verizon mark Back to the Future Day

Today is Back to the Future Day. 21 October 2015 is the date Marty McFly and Doc Brown time-hopped to in the 1989 blockbuster Back to the Future II. Here's how brands including Toyota, Pepsi and many more are marking the occasion.

All eyes have been on the brands that made an appearance in the 1980s/90s film franchise, including Pepsi with its vitamin-enhanced version, called Perfect, and Nike and the yet to be created self-lacing sneakers.

Toyota has produced a video with the film's stars showcasing its technology.

Members of the public in New York can request a lift in a DeLorean thanks to Lyft and Verizon – while Uber has made a similar offer in London.

One UK train operator got involved in the fun to the delight of this commuter.

Even the White House is getting in on the Back to the Future action by connecting its Twitter following with scientists and technologists.

And plenty more companies had Back to the Future offerings.

Last month, a London agency hit the headlines with a stunt involving a fleet of iconic movie cars, including McFly's DeLorean.
