Video: Ideas on promoting diversity in PR from Walmart's Deisha Barnett

Walmart's senior director of corporate communications shares what she thinks is the biggest challenge to diversity in PR.

Can the PR industry boost its own diversity and foster a greater sense of inclusion within its professional ranks? And are there any industries that have truly overcome the barriers to reaching those goals? Those questions, and more, were raised during the diversity panel at this year's PRWeek Conference. Panelist Deisha Barnett, the senior director of corporate communications at Walmart, shared her insights with PRWeek after the panel.

"Our country is still sort of new when it comes to embracing diversity across all facets of how we operate," Barnett said. "What's holding the PR industry back in this area, to me, is just a challenge around personal commitment."
