Prudential Financial's former CCO DeFillippo joins Zito Partners

Bob DeFillippo retired from Prudential Financial in February, after more than 20 years with the company.

WARREN, NJ: Prudential Financial’s former CCO Bob DeFillippo has joined Zito Partners as a senior consultant.

In the position, DeFillipo will also consult with clients through Zito Partners’ joint venture with Ketchum, Ketchum Zito Financial, according to a statement.

DeFillippo stepped into the part-time role on Monday. He will be working with the firm on various projects.

"I have experience in corporate communications from my 20 years at Prudential; I have some background in crisis comms and also with helping to counsel CEOs and other senior executives, so that is where I can do the most good [for clients]," he said.

DeFillippo, who joined Prudential in 1994, retired from his role there in February. While at Prudential, he led the global communications department and oversaw the company’s PR and internal communications worldwide. During that time, he also directed communications around the company’s IPO, the statement said.

Upon his departure, comms and marketing at Prudential merged under ad head Colin McConnell, who took on the new role of chief brand officer.

Prior to Prudential, DeFillippo served as director of public affairs for AARP. In that role, he led communications that supported the association’s efforts to protect Social Security and Medicare.

Prior to that, he served as press secretary to Congressman Hamilton Fish (R-NY), following a 10-year career as a reporter and editor.

He currently serves as an adjunct professor at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
