Video: The Home Depot's Stacey Tank talks brandjacking and saying 'sorry'

The VP of corporate communications and external affairs at Home Depot offered her advice at PRWeek's 2015 annual conference.

How can a brand, whether established or just starting up, protect themselves from internet brandjacking? The Home Depot's Stacey Tank says it all comes down to recon and response. "The keys are to make sure you're monitoring constantly," Tank told PRWeek after her Q&A session at the PRWeek Conference on September 16, 2015. "You have to jump right into the news cycle, because if a reporter is getting ready to publish and they reach out to you and you're not available to them...inaccuracies will be published."

Hear the rest of her advice on brandjacking, plus why saying "sorry" is so important for brands after a crisis (and why they often don't), in the video below.
