When former journalist Krista Canfield joined LinkedIn seven years ago, the company had only 200 employees – it now has more than 8,000. Canfield worked her way up to senior manager, corporate communications for mobile product. It only makes sense she would depart last year for a company that leverages something she is also passionate about: crowdsourcing. The Gogobot travel app helps create a personalized travel planning experience for its 16 million users by combining recommendations and 800,000 reviews, from families to backpackers.
Canfield is responsible for overseeing media relations, social media, corporate communications, and Gogobot’s Pro program. She recently awarded the company’s PR business to Abelow PR. Her desire to connect with like-minded people and build strong relationships has helped Canfield win numerous industry awards. She is also influencing up-and-comers as a member of the board of advisers at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University.
