The account is retained.

Stephen Day, managing director and chair of UK Public Affairs at Burson-Marsteller, said: "We are delighted to be working with the Addison Lee team and this iconic British brand."

Last year Addison Lee shifted its consumer, b2b and social media PR duties from Ogilvy to W Communications. W continues to hold this retainer. Media Zoo has been retained as the company's corporate comms agency.

In recent months Addison Lee has faced competition from online minicab services such as Uber and Hailo.

Burson-Marsteller was brought in to handle press for Uber around the time of the protests against its service by London black-cab drivers last summer, but stopped working for Uber in April when it hired an in-house comms director. Uber then handed its public affairs account to Portland in May.
