Shine clocks on to Citizen Watch account

Shine has been appointed by watchmaker Citizen Watch UK on a retained contract which began last week. The remit includes both brand and press office activity, and media announcements at Basel World, the global watch and jewellery event, in March. The account was awarded to Shine following a competitive pitch.

Brewers' association gets new comms and public affairs heads

The Brewers of Europe, a membership association representing 29 European brewing industry bodies, has appointed Jan de Grave as comms director and Simon Spillane as public affairs director. De Grave previously held senior roles at broadband firm Telenet, while Spillane is an internal hire who joined the organisation in 2003.

EIGHT launched by Davies Tanner's Turner

The former managing director of Davies Tanner has launched a new agency specialising in the events industry. Alistair Turner, who left his position at Davies Tanner in July, launched EIGHT PR & Marketing last week. Turner said it will work domestically and internationally.

Karol retained for chemists' PR

Newcastle's Karol Marketing Group has been retained to handle PR for chemical research and development company High Force Research. The account is handled by account manager Amanda Little and was given to Karol after the agency worked with HFR on various projects around branding and strategic positioning last year.

MHP gets BBC News' Batstone for social media

MHP Communications has appointed Adam Batstone, previously BBC News' assistant editor for on demand news, as a senior digital and social media advisor. Batstone, who spent two decades at the BBC, also wrote a piece for PRWeek last year on 'The ten commandments of compelling video'.

FleishmanHillard promotes GMs in NY and LA

FleishmanHillard has promoted Ephraim Cohen to GM of the firm’s New York office and Mitch Germann to the same role in Los Angeles. Cohen joined the firm early last year, while Germann arrived for his second stint with the company in 2012. Read the full story via PRWeek US.

Raw Creative served Turtle Bay contract

The agency Raw Creative has been given an eight-week contract to handle PR activity for the launch of Caribbean restaurant Turtle Bay's opening in Leeds on 10 September. Turtle Bay is led by former Las Iguanas director Ajith Jayawickrema, and appointed Raw after an independent recommendation and a pitch.
