Paul Buckett will move into Volkswagen Group UK’s newly created role of head of group corporate and public relations, created to shorten the lines of communication between the UK importer and the parent company in Wolfsburg, Germany. He has been with the company since 1988.

Buckett’s current position as head of press and PR will be filled by Mike Orford, head of PR for Porsche Cars Great Britain, who began his PR career at Volkswagen in 2001 after five years in journalism at Diesel Car magazine.

Angus Fitton, PR manager for Mercedes-Benz UK, will be taking over from Orford at Porsche.

In his nearly 10 years as a PR professional, Fitton has also spent time in the press office at Volkswagen UK and spent the six previous years as a motoring journalist, primarily at CAR magazine, but also Autocar and BBC Top Gear Magazine.

All three new positions will commence on 1 October.

Separately, PRWeek reported last week that Volkswagen’s product affairs manager, Rory Lumsdon, will be moving into Fitton’s position at Mercedes-Benz at the end of this month.
