Holly Zheng at Cannes: 'Chinese delegates are definitely underrepresented'

Chinese marketers have a long way to go at the Cannes Lions, according to the BlueFocus international president.

Holly Zheng, president of BlueFocus International, sat down with PRWeek Editor-in-Chief Steve Barrett at Cannes to weigh in on Chinese representation and BlueFocus’ expansion plans.

She shared her feelings on whether Asian work is being noticed at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

"If you’re purely looking at the number, Chinese delegates are definitely underrepresented…but you definitely see more people coming from Japan, Korea, and India," she said. "From the award ceremonies we went to, we didn’t see too many good results there. So I think for the whole Asian delegates, we definitely have a long way to go, especially for the Chinese."

She also talked about BlueFocus’ expansion plans.

"From the investment point of view, we’ll keep investing in both the conventional communications PR firms as well launching into the new technology-enabled field," she said. "We’ll look at different ad technology because we believe in the future, all those will be integrated."
