Visit California shops for Canada marketing support

The winning agency will support Visit California's marketing, communications, and PR efforts.

SACRAMENTO: Visit California is looking for agency representation in Canada for a one-year contract worth up to $900,000.

The successful bidder will "act as the Visit California in-market specialist for marketing and sales representation in Canada," according to an RFP released last week.

The contract is expected to run from January 1 through December 31, 2016, with a budget totaling $900,000, according to the document. Visit California will have five annual options to renew.

Scope of work on the account spans communications and PR, travel trade, owned travel management, and account administration, as stated in the RFP. Communications and PR duties include supporting media relations, partnership opportunities, crisis communications, and monthly reports.

Three to five finalists will give oral presentations ahead of a contract award. Intent-to-bid submissions are due by July 15 and proposals are due on August 28. An award is expected to be made by October.

Representatives from Visit California were not immediately available for comment.

Last month, Visit California retained Development Counsellors International for domestic PR, awarding the incumbent a $300,000 budget for the first year of the contract. The nonprofit also released an RFP in May to find a global social media agency partner for a $300,000 contract.
