CNBC hires Freuds' Lee Thompson to head EMEA comms

Broadcaster CNBC has hired Freuds' Lee Thompson to head comms across EMEA, alongside the appointment of Mike Cheong from Burson-Marsteller to take a similar role in Asia Pacific.

Thompson will be based in the firm’s London office when he joins as comms manager for CNBC EMEA on 27 July.

He has worked with clients including Vodafone, Pepsico and Lexus during his time at Freuds. Before joining the agency in 2012, he held PR and public affairs roles at APCO Worldwide, the Association of Chief Police Officers and Citizens Advice.

Cheong, currently senior associate at Burson-Marsteller, will be based at the Singapore office. He joins on 13 July.

Both Thompson and Cheong will report to Finola McDonnell, VP of international marketing and comms, and will take lead responsibility for managing the comms function across their relevant territories.
