Tesco and Uber comms heads join Milltown Partners

Tesco head of media Ruth McAllister and Uber senior comms lead EMEA Ben Novick, are joining Milltown Partners, the London-based comms agency set up by former vice-president of comms for Google DJ Collins, PRWeek has learned.

Novick is the latest departure from Uber's comms team, following APAC head of comms Evelyn Tay, who left last month.

He joined Uber in October last year as senior comms lead for EMEA, a role he has held for nine months.

He previously spent six years at Google as head of ads and enterprise PR for EMEA, where he replaced external PR agencies with an in-house team.

PRWeek understands that Novick is to join Milltown Partners as a director, with a focus on technology.

Meanwhile the agency has hired Ruth McAllister from Tesco as associate director. McAllister, former chief press officer at No.10, joined Tesco three years ago as head of UK media.

Milltown was launched in 2013 by former comms secretary at Clarence House, Paddy Harverson, and vice-president of public policy and comms for Google EMEA, DJ Collins.

The duo quit their roles in 2012 to set up the new venture which provides communications and reputation management advice to UK and international corporate and private clients. The agency is now 17-strong and continuing to hire.
