NBCUniversal hires former John Lewis comms manager Neil Spring

US media and entertainment company NBCUniversal has appointed Neil Spring as director of comms for its television production business.

Spring has worked at John Lewis as the group's external comms manager since 2011. He was responsible for promoting and protecting the reputation of the retailer's brand across traditional and new media.

Before that he was comms team leader at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and was previously a senior account manager at Edelman for four years.

In his new role, Spring will support the president Michael Edelstein and report to chief operating officer of NBCU International Studios, Sarah Cooper. He will also lead media relations and internal comms across the division.

Cooper said: "Neil has first-class experience; he’s creative, strategic and passionate about television and he’ll be a tremendous asset to the business."

Spring added: "NBCU International Television is home to many exciting projects. Given how the business has expanded, I am thrilled by this opportunity."
