The 12-month brief will require Alexander PR to secure support from luxury British brands and premium whisky vendors, which is the drink of choice for the film’s protagonist Ted Wallace.
Alexander PR director Adam Rutherford said the firm will integrate products as organically as possible and then carry out promotional activities with the associated brands for maximum exposure.
He told PRWeek: "The brands we will be approaching for placement include Land Rover, Macallan whisky, Makers Mark, Coutts Bank and Laphroiag whisky, which all feature organically in the film’s script. As the film is a British production we will be reaching out to British women’s shoes, bags and accessories for placement with principal characters."
"During general release, we will be carrying out experiential events with the promoted products and will also look at retail and social media promotion."
The Hippopotamus is an adaptation of Stephen Fry’s 1994 critically acclaimed novel and has a budget of approximately £5 million. It is scheduled to start shooting in August.
