KUALA LUMPUR – Following a pitch, the Malaysian Timber Council has appointed Go Communications with a two year retainer contract.

The Malaysian Timber Council (MTC) was established to promote the development and growth of the Malaysian timber industry.

MTC was formed on the initiative of the timber industry and governed by the board of trustees whose members are appointed by the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities.

"One of our key challenges is to improve the Malaysian Timber Industry image," said Peter de Kretser, COO at Go Communications.

Sustainability of the Malaysian timber industry and improvement through greater competitiveness, market access and trade opportunities are among the top concerns for the MTC.

The main objective of MTC is to expand the industry’s manufacturing technology base, increase value, add production capacity and increase the pool of knowledge workers in order to promote the development of the timber industry.

MTC also provides information services to the timber industry
