Monotype appoints Red Lorry Yellow Lorry for UK PR

Technology PR specialist Red Lorry Yellow Lorry has been hired by typeface design company Monotype, used by Google and Microsoft, as its new UK agency.

Headquartered in the US, Monotype designs typesetting, imaging and text for consumer electronics devices.

Brands such as Google, Microsoft, The Economist, Sony, Nike and Peugeot are among Monotype's customers.

Red Lorry Yellow Lorry will develop campaigns to highlight Monotype’s design and technical expertise, while positioning type as a vital element of branding and comms.

Amy Aylward, director of corporate comms at Monotype, said: "Type is such a central part of our lives, whether we’re chatting with friends in a mobile messaging app, interacting with the GPS system in our car, or connecting with a favourite brand – it’s such a big part of our everyday experiences.

"We believe the lorries are the best partner to help us amplify that message in the UK, collaborating with us on the most strategic and effective way to tell our story to the masses."

Rob Ettridge, partner at Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, added: "While the Monotype brand has an amazing heritage and is a name everyone is familiar with, we now need to update and take its messages to the next level. With the increase in digital and the use of multiple channels – television, web, mobile, print and now wearable devices – typefaces are becoming even more crucial."
