SAN FRANCISCO: LinkedIn has promoted VP Shannon Stubo to SVP of corporate communications.
Stubo, who reports to LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner, said via email that she will continue handling her former responsibilities in the expanded role. She declined to offer any further comments.
Weiner announced Stubo’s promotion last week in an internal email to LinkedIn staffers.
In September 2010, Stubo joined LinkedIn as VP of corporate communications. Leading the company’s comms team in 12 offices around the world, she is responsible for the company’s global corporate communications program. Her purview also includes internal communications, media relations, social impact, social media, and community relations.
Four years ago, Stubo, who ranked number 18 in the 2014 edition of PRWeek’s Power List, drove the comms strategy for the company’s successful IPO. Stubo was also one of PRWeek’s 40 Under 40 honorees in 2011.
Prior to LinkedIn, Stubo served as senior director of corporate communications for OpenTable. While there, she developed and oversaw the company’s global communications strategies and was responsible for the management of all IPO-related comms.
Before that, she served at eBay for six years in various roles, most recently as VP of corporate communications. Earlier in her career, Stubo worked at Yahoo as senior manager of corporate communications.
In addition to Stubo, LinkedIn has appointed VP Pat Wadors to serve as SVP of global talent organization. Wadors also reports to Weiner and will fold her previous tasks into the new position.
Wadors joined LinkedIn in February 2013 as VP of global talent organization. She leads the company’s global HR department. She told PRWeek that her main objective at LinkedIn is to build a world class talent organization.
"This year, my team and I are working with LinkedIn executives to define great leadership now and in the future," Wadors said. "We are figuring out best attributes, making sure we can continue to scale in a healthy way, and looking at diversity inclusion among peers.
Wadors was SVP of HR and facilities for Plantronics before joining LinkedIn. She also previously served as HR executive advisor for Twitter and SVP of HR for Yahoo.
In December 2014, Mike Manuel, former SVP at Porter Novelli subsidiary Voce Communications, joined LinkedIn as senior marketing manager for content and social consumer. That same month, LinkedIn mobile product PR lead Krista Canfield departed the company to join travel-planning app Gogobot as communications VP.
