Rugby League appoints Manc Frank as first retained agency

The Rugby Football League (RFL) has brought in Frank PR's northern office, Manc Frank, to manage its communications following a pitch.

Manc Frank will work to boost the sport's profile as it prepares to introduce a new promotion and relegation league structure.

The agency will also support individual players and clubs as well as promoting events including Super League's Magic Weekend in Newcastle, the Championship Summer Bash in Blackpool and the World Club Series.

Super League general manager Blake Solly said: "2015 is a landmark year for Rugby League as the sport embarks on a new era that will produce the most exciting action the sport has ever seen. Manc Frank's sport credentials and creativity really put it in a league of its own."

Manc Frank general manager Graeme Anthony said: "Rugby League is without doubt one of the world's most exciting sports, brimming with energy and adrenaline, both on and off the pitch. Its raw power is infectious and as such its appeal is spreading rapidly across the globe – which is something we aim to replicate through our tactics and execution."

The RFL, the sport's UK governing body, is based in Leeds and administers England's national Rugby League team along with mainstream competitions such as the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup and First Utility Super League. The organisation is celebrating its 120th anniversary.

Manc Frank opened in 2012.
