Royal British Legion looks for new PR agency

Royal British Legion, the welfare charity for service personnel, is in the early stages of inviting agencies to pitch, PRWeek has learned.

It is not yet clear whether the charity will be looking for a retained agency or if it will be on a project basis.

The legion recently worked with Sainsbury’s during its Christmas campaign, which saw the profits from a special edition chocolate bar paid to the charity.

It was criticised by some for setting the advert in the famous football match in WWI on Christmas Day in 1914.

To mark the 100-year anniversary of the First World War last year, an installation of ceramic poppies was created by ceramic artist Paul Cummins and theatre stage designer Tom Piper at the Tower of London.

Proceeds from sales of the ceramic poppies were shared equally between a number of charities, including the legion.

The charity was contacted but declined to comment.
