Ketchum Sports & Entertainment to run PR for LA Marathon

The agency will also work to pick up the pace of consumer awareness about the event.

LOS ANGELES: The LA Marathon has selected Ketchum Sports & Entertainment as its PR AOR after a competitive review.

The firm will create a communications strategy to boost awareness of the organization and build media buzz, as well as supporting the 30th annual ASICS LA Marathon and the 2015 USA Track & Field Marathon Championships. Ketchum will focus on enhancing the marathon’s image in the US, as well as its relationships with stakeholders.

The Omnicom Group firm will also help the LA Marathon prepare for the 2016 Olympic Team Trials for Men’s and Women’s Marathon on February 13, 2016.

Representatives from the LA Marathon and Ketchum were not immediately available for comment about the account.  

At the end of 2013, LA Marathon appointed Coyne as its PR AOR after a review that involved six agencies. Before that, the organization worked with Sugerman Communications Group.

A representative from Coyne declined to comment.

Aside from the ASICS LA Marathon, the organization’s event portfolio includes the LA Big 5K, Santa Monica Classic, and the LA Road Runners training program.
