The first – a website called #PRStack – was conceived by Waddington and designed by Prezly, containing industry contacts and key tools such as Gorkana and Tweetdeck. PRs can add to the database, with more than 150 contributions so far.

The second app called PRGeeks.co acts as a user guide to #PRStack, with tips for how to get the most out of the tools listed on the database.

Waddington, who is chief engagement officer at Ketchum, said: "It’s appropriate that we use technology to solve the problem of finding great technology. But we need to crowdsource the next step too. #PRStack could raise the working standard across our entire industry."

The apps have received the backing of Danny Whatmough, chair of the PRCA digital group, who added: "Finding the right PR tools is still fraught with difficulty. Upskilling our industry is absolutely crucial and, in this, I think these initiatives will play a pivotal role and the PRCA digital group stands right beside them."

Frederik Vincx, co-founder of Prezly, works with PR agencies and comms teams to share stories with the press and social media.
