Starting out his career as a journalist Tesoriero has also worked as an adviser to a former Australian Prime Minister, managing media and stakeholder campaigns while in the PM’s office. He was also a senior media adviser to the office of the Deputy Premier of New South Wales from 2003 to 2005.
Just prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Tesoriero was a senior communications adviser at the Cato Counsel, an Australian PR firm that prefers to fly under the radar; its corporate site declines to list clients and the agency likely trades on the strong personal reputation of its founders.
Tesoriero gained a national profile as a workplace and political reporter with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and in addition to his domestic political background can claim international experience, having directed large-scale education campaigns as a marketing head in the UK.
Susan Redden Makatoa, Ogilvy PR’s group managing director in Australia said in a release that Tesoriero is a welcome senior addition to the growing practice who will be an asset as the firm takes on complex challenges with multiple stakeholders.
"With his experience and influential contacts across the business, media, education, technology and community sectors," she said, "Nino is well placed to deliver excellent counsel and in depth quality thinking for Ogilvy PR’s clients."
Earlier this week the same agency, which claims to be Australia’s largest public relations and public affairs consultancy, also announce a new account win.
