The tournament, which takes place on 16 and 17 May at Twickenham Stadium, is the final event on the HSBC Sevens World Series. TVC has been briefed to support ticket sales for the event and build excitement in the lead up to the weekend.
The agency will start work on the account immediately on a yearly contract.
TVC’s head of sport, Ben Barker, said: "It’s an exciting time for rugby with a home World Cup and sevens now an Olympic sport. We looked at the opportunity to both engage current sevens supporters and reach new fans with the fast-paced and shortened form of the game. We’re looking forward to working with the RFU to build on the tournament’s growing success."
Barry Aherne, RFU event marketing manager, said: "We are looking forward to working with TVC Sport and Sponsorship on this year’s tournament. It demonstrated a clear understanding of the brief and our objectives as well as a passion for rugby sevens."
The RFU joins the agency's roster alongside clients including Heineken UK, British Gas and Eurostar.
