Red Bull appoints The Hub after moving comms in-house six years ago

Energy drinks giant Red Bull has appointed food-focused PR agency The Hub to manage its trade communications, since moving the role in-house six years ago, PRWeek has learned.

Following a pitch process at the end of last year, The Hub will look after PR and media buying for the drinks brand, covering both the convenience retail and food service sectors. Clarion Communications held the account before it moved in-house.
 
Rebecca Riches, founder of The Hub, said: "This is a great win for our agency, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2014. Red Bull is a brand that I have always admired for the way it interacts with its consumers by delivering experiences. Ed Whitehead, strategy and planning manager at Red Bull, who will be overseeing the relationship, added: "With its wealth of experience in both the convenience channel and out of home, The Hub proved to us that it would not only deliver a fundamentally strong trade communications platform, but also add value to further enhance the way we interact with our audiences."

Red Bull has worked with a number of agencies. In 2013 it moved its sports account from PrettyGreen to Pitch. It also brought in John Doe to help launch a range of drinks in the UK.
