Sainsbury's to hold chemistry meetings with agencies for three-way brief

Sainsbury's will be holding chemistry sessions today (8 January) and tomorrow as it kicks off the first round in search of new agency support.

The 'corporate affairs cross-functional brief' includes three separate strands: consumer (food, brand & health), corporate comms and corporate responsibility.

The supermarket group is offering agencies the chance to demonstrate their ability to support one or more of the three briefs.

Sainsbury's is approaching agencies to present before going through to a formal pitch process that is due to start on 15 January.

A key element of the brief is to reflect Sainsbury's 'Live Well For Less' concept.
 
At the chemistry stage, agencies are required to explain their approach to managing a large and complex account, introduce potential managers of the account, demonstrate how they will work alongside the corporate affairs team, outline the challenges Sainsbury's faces in food retailing, and show how their knowledge of the media landscape will deliver an enhanced perception of the supermarket's reputation, products and brand values.

The process is being overseen by Sainsbury's head of corporate comms Rebecca Reilly, alongside head of consumer PR for food, brand & health Cath Wilkins, senior comms manager CR Jo Simmons and senior comms manager consumer PR, Ellie Calcutt.

Agencies will be shortlisted on 20 January with a final decision to be made early to mid-February.
