Energous hires Edelman; Capitol Media Partners taps Byrne, opens New York office; Internet Society brings on Wood.

PLEASANTON, CA: Energous, the maker of wire-free charging technology WattUp, has named Edelman as its communications AOR. The agency’s team on the account will be based in its Bay Area offices and will handle duties spanning earned and owned media, analyst relations, and content creation.

NEW YORK: Capitol Media Partners has named Chris Byrne as a partner, leading the firm’s new office in New York City. Byrne was most recently a senior producer at Fox News Channel and previously worked at the White House as special assistant to former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino.

GENEVA: The Internet Society has appointed James Wood to the newly created position of senior director of strategic communications and media relations. He will oversee development and implementation of a strategic comms framework to raise the profile of the group when he joins on January 1, 2015. Wood will be based in Geneva. He previously worked at AxiCom, leading its policy and governance practice.
