NEW YORK: BuzzFeed has brought on Liz Wasden, previously a member of Facebook’s comms team, as VP of communications, according to Capital New York. She will report to predecessor Ashley McCollum, now chief of staff to CEO Jonah Peretti.

NEW YORK: NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprises and Content division has hired República. The agency team will report to group CMO Jacqueline Hernandez. The hire will expand República’s responsibilities beyond the advertising and marketing services it has conducted for Universal Orlando Resort since 2009, it said in a statement.

NEW YORK: Internet streaming delivery software RealNetworks has hired Diffusion as its AOR, handling integrated comms for its mobile entertainment division, after a pitch process. The firm will initially focus on boosting mainstream consumer awareness of its Listen ringback tones platform, it said in a statement.

SAN JOSE, CA: California Water Service Group has promoted Shannon Dean to VP of corporate communications and community affairs, effective at the start of next year. She was previously director of corporate communications.

PARIS: Publicis Groupe has agreed to acquire Relevant24, a real-time branded content firm based in Boston. It will align the agency with Starcom MediaVest Group, it said in a statement. Relevant24’s CEO and president will remain in their respective roles.

CLEVELAND: Designated driver service BeMyDD has appointed Michael Donner as EVP and CMO, overseeing marketing and demand generation, including sponsorships, comms, and PR. He was previously CMO at Conversica.

HOLLYWOOD, FL: The International Franchise Association has engaged Fish Consulting to develop and launch its national Franchising Gives Back program. The firm will work on national PR and website development for the organization.

NEW YORK: Generator Hostels has retained Nancy J. Friedman Public Relations to promote Generator Paris, scheduled to open in March. The company is planning to open hostels in Rome and Amsterdam, as well as the US.

HOUSTON: Pierpont Communications has hired Bryan Gaskill as VP of marketing, overseeing marketing and multimedia programs. He previously worked with clients including Shell Oil Company, Halliburton, Dell, and Domino’s Pizza.

SAN FRANCISCO: Innovation Tri-Valley, a networking collaboration of Northern California business leaders, has picked VR Public Relations as its AOR, working on integrated branding and communications, marketing campaigns, and digital strategy
