Leyton steps into the new role of consumer PR manager following the recent resignation of head of PR Jo Roberts, who has now been hired as media relations manager for McDonald’s UK.
She joins Helen Nassey, who was hired into the new position of corporate PR manager four months ago from Propeller and briefly reported to Roberts.
Now, the pair will report to marketing director Sheraz Dar, who told PRWeek that the restructure allowed a stronger focus on b2b comms.
"We wanted to develop our trade PR because historically our focus has been consumer-centric," he said.
"We work with more than 4,000 online retailers, and the key thing for us from a trade perspective is to make sure that Quidco can meet some of the targets these retailers have. The only way we can do that is to continue our dialogue with them, and leverage our insight and data to help them grow their business."
Leyton, most recently account director at Lansons, has worked in both agency and in-house roles, including time as PR manager for insurance comparison business Confused.com.
She said: "I wasn’t looking to leave Lansons but I enjoy being a specialist so it was a great opportunity to concentrate on one thing. I’ve been working in personal finance for a long time and issues around money saving have always interested me."
