Alibaba's Zandy to rejoin Facebook

LONDON: Ashley Zandy will return to Facebook after less than a year at Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba Group.

Zandy will be based in London, according to her LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook profiles. Stefano Hesse, Facebook corporate comms director for the EMEA region, said she had not yet started at the company but did not answer further inquiries about her new role. Zandy did not respond to requests for comment, and her new title was not specified on her LinkedIn profile.

Zandy joined Alibaba last October as associate director of international corporate affairs. While there, she was responsible for corporate and financial communications outside of mainland China as the company prepared for its highly-anticipated IPO in the US, which is expected to take place next month.

During her first stint at Facebook, Zandy served as corporate communications manager, overseeing the corporate media relations team and supporting the finance, corporate development, and legal departments for about two years. She reported to former corporate communications director Tucker Bounds, who left Facebook in June to launch a startup called Sidewire.

Previously, Zandy spent more than five years at Brunswick Group and also worked in investor relations at Brainerd Communicators.

Earlier this year, Alibaba appointed former PepsiCo communications EVP and top Treasury Department aide Jim Wilkinson as SVP and head of international corporate affairs.
