NEW YORK: Rubenstein Public Relations has tapped Marc Weinstein to lead its newly created corporate communications group.
Weinstein joined Rubenstein on August 11, only seven months after he launched Ascent Communications, a marcomms consultancy focused on hedge funds. He told PRWeek that he dissolved the firm last month to take on the new opportunity at Rubenstein.
Reporting to the firm’s president, Richard Rubenstein, Weinstein is tasked with growing the new corporate comms practice and providing current and prospective clients with proactive media-relations support. Leading a team of four staffers, he said the firm intends to grow the corporate comms group as it brings on more business.
Rubenstein created the group to take advantage of the sudden influx of companies that require corporate comms work, Weinstein explained. He added that prior to his appointment, different group heads at the firm handled segments of his responsibilities.
"The economy is showing strong improvement, and we feel that a lot of companies are in a better position to promote themselves now than they have been in the past," he said. "We want to be there to help provide the services they need to reach out to their constituencies."
The group will focus on b-to-b and b-to-c work for the tech and financial sectors, including businesses such as banks, brokerages, real-estate companies, and asset-management firms.
Prior to Ascent, Weinstein was CEO and founder of Spotlight Financial Marketing.
Previously, he was SVP at Spring O'Brien for 12 years, according to his LinkedIn page, and VP at Trimedia, which is now known as Intermarket Communications.
