NEW YORK: Porter Novelli has launched a US healthcare payor and policy advisory board, which will meet at least twice a year with the goal of helping the firm better advise clients.
The board includes Amy Knapp, vice chairman of the board of directors at Affinity Health Plan in New York; Robert Battista, CEO of Los Angeles-based Doctor Evidence; and Robert Coughlin, president and CEO of MassBio in Boston.
Henry Engleka, SVP of global health and wellness at Porter, said the firm is looking at how companies and organizations "articulate what it is they’re bringing to the table around the triple aim," referring to communicating services including outcome, cost, and patient experience.
"We recognize that the market is evolving rapidly," he said, adding that the healthcare industry can be "tumultuous."
Engleka added that patient experience has become "increasingly important to policymakers and payors," adding that factors that constitute that experience and how it affects patient satisfaction are also part of the discussion about value. Technology also has "an enormous role to play," he said.
The board is planning to meet at least twice a year, and its members have been called on individually as questions have come up, Engleka explained. While clients have "expressed interest in tapping into the broader group," none have talked to the panel as a whole yet.
Porter launched a European payor panel through the Paradigm Communications subsidiary in March. Neil McGregor-Paterson, director of client services at Paradigm, oversees the group.
