Dhanak is understood to be serving out her notice and Citizen parent company EDC has started the search for her replacement.

EDC UK group CEO Paul Hammersley said: "Misha has done an excellent job and shown great leadership for the UK business, developing a strong team and a great portfolio of clients, and we thank her hugely for her contribution to Citizen."

Dhanak joined Citizen from Shine Communications in spring 2012 and was promoted to MD last September, initially reporting to CEO Frankie Cory before Cory left to join Mischief in October.

Dhanak said: "I'm incredibly proud of the work we have done in the past two years to restructure the agency, put a single-minded focus on award-winning creative work that delivers commercial results and to bring together a very talented group of people."
