NEW YORK: Ketchum has hired former Katie producer Lori Beecher as EVP of media and content strategy, a newly created role, effective immediately.
Beecher is reporting to Debra Forman, partner and director of Ketchum Digital, and Tamara Norman, partner and associate director of Ketchum New York. She is based in the firm’s New York headquarters.
Beecher’s responsibilities were previously covered by Forman and Norman. The firm has not yet determined how many staffers will report to Beecher, but she will work closely with Ketchum’s global digital and media network, she told PRWeek on Monday.
Beecher is responsible for counseling Ketchum’s North American clients on content-centric media strategy and executive visibility. She is also helping clients develop and manage content for brand and corporate storytelling.
"I really hope that I will be able to share with my new colleagues what I have learned over many years, and learn from my new colleagues what they know, so we can work together to give better service, better offerings, and a better outcome for all of our clients," she said.
Most recently, Beecher served as coordinating producer for Katie Couric’s nationally syndicated talk show, Katie, and was a member of the team that conceived, developed, and launched the program on ABC. Beecher worked on the talk show’s final episodes, which were in production through mid-June.
Before Katie, she worked in producer roles for CBS News’ 60 Minutes, the CBS Evening News, Dateline NBC, Nightline, and other programs.
"I have spent the last 28 years working in TV at all three of the major US networks," Beecher said. "This role at Ketchum presented a challenge and excitement for me that I really was hoping to try."
Last month, Ketchum also hired former Coca-Cola North America VP Diana Garza Ciarlante as its Atlanta office director.
