SAN FRANCISCO: The Pramana Collective has hired Hulu head of comms Meredith Kendall as a principal, effective August 15.
Thursday was Kendall’s last day at Hulu. She is relocating from Los Angeles to San Francisco for the role at the consultancy.
Reporting to Pramana cofounder and partner Brian O'Shaughnessy, Kendall will work to help clients with "whatever their needs are" from developing social media strategy to formulating pitches, said O'Shaughnessy.
He explained Pramana employs two types of staffers: partners and principals. Partners are staffers who have led communications teams and accrued extensive experience, while principals are employees who have held "big internal jobs" and have similar experience of about 10 years.
"We usually give principals a greater amount of autonomy to lead a project for an individual client," O'Shaughnessy explained about Kendall’s role. "They then work with a partner to deliver a strategic roadmap for a particular brand or organization."
Kendall had worked at Hulu since July 2011, leading external comms for the company, including corporate, content, product, advertising, and distribution communications, according to a Pramana blog post about her appointment.
Prior to Hulu, she was PR manager at Break Media and talent manager at 19 Entertainment. She started her career at Google as senior associate for global comms and public affairs in 2006, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Kendall said Pramana has "the best PR athletes doing some of the most creative work in our field." She added that she is leaving Hulu on "good" terms.
Kendall could not confirm if Hulu has named a replacement for her as head of comms.
In February, Pramana took on Mike Mayzel as its first executive in residence, a temporary position. He left the firm last month to join Pinterest as its partner communications manager.
