Goodyear hires Dow Chemical veteran Schnepf as comms VP

Schnepf is responsible for overseeing all PR and communications activities in support of Goodyear's North American business, including media relations, internal communications, executive comms, social media, and targeted influencer efforts.

AKRON, OH: Goodyear Tire & Rubber has hired former Dow Chemical senior communications leader Kristina Schnepf as VP of communications for North America.

She started in the role last month, reporting directly to Goodyear president for North America Steve McClellan and functionally to Paul Fitzhenry, SVP of global communications and CCO.

The role was previously held by Chris Curran, who left the company last May. Ed Markey, VP of corporate communications at Goodyear, oversaw the position in addition to his own in the interim. Markey will continue in his role, said Keith Price, Goodyear’s director of national media relations and business communications.

Curran joined Peabody Energy as VP of corporate communications in March, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Schnepf is responsible for overseeing all PR and communications activities in support of Goodyear's North American business, including media relations, internal communications, executive comms, social media, and targeted influencer efforts.

She will also collaborate with the company’s North American marketing team on marcomms strategy, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Schnepf said she oversees a dozen staffers.

"My main priorities are supporting customers to make confident, valid tire-purchase decisions, [and] building and supporting the North American comms team to be able to deliver for the business and for our customers," she said, adding that she is also supporting its North American leadership team.

She had previously worked at Dow since 1992, most recently as senior communications leader for marketing and tradeshow management. Schnepf initially joined the company as a communications representative. In her most recent position at Dow, Schnepf was responsible for branding, marketing communications, crisis management, and community relations.
