Dodd will take up the role in September following seven years at Cancer Research UK.
Hired to help drive the agency's expansion, she will focus on new business and work closely with Kaper’s sister advertising agency, Karmarama.
Dodd will report to the agency's founder Chris McCafferty, who said: "Nicola immediately understood Kaper’s vision for evolved, ambitious PR that is a commercial tool for clients, not just a publicity tool."
Highlighting her work with Karmarama, Dodd said part of her aim was to help support "more integrated work across the wider group."
At Cancer Research UK, Dodd ran a team of 18 and worked on a range of high profile campaigns including the #nomakeupselfie campaign, which raised £8m in six days.
